Upon the release of Alexa Chung‘s newest AG Jeans collection, she made a statement that allowed all hardcore skinny jeans fans to breath a sigh of relief… that is, if they count on It-girls to call the shots in their wardrobe. In an exclusive post for Refinery29, she shares the inspiration behind her collection, as well as her feedback on the future of the skinny fit. When asked what she would say to those who have declared the death of the trend, she responded:
“I would say they have too much time on their hands. Who sits and thinks about what’s over; it’s all next, next, next for me. Also, I still wear skinny jeans, so I’m probably not the right person to ask. You have to dress for your shape, and I look better in that cut, so I don’t think they’ll die in my wardrobe.”
Adults in overalls… one of our favorite topics! It-girls around the world have made it possible to wear this trend without looking out of place (Alexa Chung much?), so what are you waiting for? One of our favorite blogs, The Marcy Stop, recently posted up a new look featuring some denim overalls and a message encouraging readers to go for this look without hesitation. You can see why. For the legions of fans who hang onto Alexa Chung‘s every word (and little-girl pettycoat tails), Madewell just released a video to showcase Alexa’s latest contributions to the collaboration. Her collection hits stores today, but we thought you’d like to see more directly what Alexa has in store. For Fall, you will find the requisite “little girl dresses” that Alexa is so fond of, as well as a couple of denim jeans in the form of a flare leg jean and a high waisted short. The entire collection has definite vintage inspirations from the ’60s and ’90s, as she herself admits in the video, which gives us a brief view of her latest lookbook.
