According to StyleCaster’s Leah Bourne, the answer is a resounding “Yes”. Inspired by Sarah Blakely, founder of Spanx, and her mission to create a pair of jeans that fit like leggings and suck in excess weight in all the right places, Bourne got a pair for herself to see if they walked the walk. She found that while they definitely lived up to their task of being shape wear, they didn’t feel too tight or “like a girdle”. Even after a full day’s wear, they had the stamp of approval.
How do they work? According to Blakely, who spoke to StyleCaster, “There’s a magic tummy panel sewn right into The Slim-X jean and a uniquely designed shaping waistband in The Signature style. We also created slimming patterns for both cuts—the skinny and straight, so that thighs appear thinner and legs longer.”

So the verdict? Spanx jeans make you look thinner, and they don’t wear out after a day of walking around. We’ll be trying a pair for ourselves to see if this theory holds up for us as well. See the full story and review here.
