Denim has always been a staple of the Stella McCartney collections and has been featured on the runway in previous seasons. For Spring 2014, the range is expanded into an offering of up to 10 styles in 20 washes including prints and colors that complement the designer’s ready-to-wear collection.
The increase in styles this season focuses on jeans and shorts in either skinny leg, wide leg or boyfriend fit with a low, high or mid-rise. Washes including over dyed, faded and degrade come in classic shades of indigo, white, grey and black; while a fresh spring palette consists of rose, lipstick and chamomile. Prints are playful in a black and white heart print and subtle in all black subtle leopard.
The range features a new denim technology including high recovery fabric that reduces stretching due to wear while also shaping the body. Continuing the designer’s commitment to sustainability, 8 styles are 100% organic cotton, farmed using a water efficient process that does not involve harmful chemicals, restores and maintains soil health.
Additionally no sand blasting has been used, a technique commonly used in denim which is harmful to workers due to the high exposure toxic silica in the air. All the denim styles are 100% made in Italy.
The denim range will ship 3 times a year and is available to retailers at market starting tomorrow for a November delivery with a retail price range from $350 to $595.
