They may not be every denimphile’s dream band, but they are mine. I just discovered Los Angeles indie band Mighty Six Ninety (Invisible DJ Records), and with the release of their debut album last year, Cheers, to the Bitter End, they look like they are made for super stardom. I want to say M690 channels Franz Ferdinand and Roxy Music. Check out their music video (below) for “Mistakes Like These.” There is a rockin’ remix version that you can listen to online at Invisible DJ. But then I hear “Keeping You in Mind,” and it’s New Order and Morrissey influences, thanks to the optimistically melancholy vocals of Richard Gardner. Others might find that them lacking in originality. I find them divinely New Wave.

Fashion-wise, M690 is just so well put together. The guys wear the perfect jeans for their frames. They are a fashionably cohesive group, even though they apparently have individual style. They look like they know who they are, unlike other newbie bands that are still struggling to find their look. They have a polished sound. I am waiting for them to be the next big breakout band.
It’s fashion eye candy and good music to my ears. All is right with the music world again.
