Is it London in the late 1800s, or Los Angeles in the late 80s? Los Angeles-based House of Cassette is an independent fashion label, which is known for its minimalist design, complemented by tiny details and flourishes. Expect to see high quality: chainstitching and custom buttons made from an embossing technique much like coin making. Denimphiles will appreciate Cassette’s use of vintage denim, as in their Bespoke Denim, assembled with 1909 vintage denim. With their jeans and dark apparel pairings, one can go Rock ‘n’ Roll, Edwardian-Goth, or simply aging record producer wannabe Emo. Whatever the case may be, House of Cassette “surrounds itself within a burgeoning creative community, which includes writers, photographers, artists, musicians and designers.”
Celebrity following includes Jessica Alba and Alicia Keys. Housed within Downtown L.A.’s Arts District, House of Cassette’s entire design, cut and assembly process can be found “within arms reach of each other” so that a design and fit can be easily perfected in an instant.
If you are looking for the perfect-fitting pair of jeans, this may be your best solution. They take your measurements and design a pair of jeans according to your specs. Founder and Designer Peter James Lee (formerly of Hudson Jeans) says, of being in the premium denim business, “We’ve built a Cadillac; we’ve built a Bentley; a jean, worthy of its price.” I say, a perfect-fitting pair of jeans is priceless.
