Big Star USA Does Bird-Printed Jeans For Spring

We’ve seen flowers, we’ve seen paisley…heck, we’ve even seen skeletons prancing on printed jeans! So it’s super refreshing when a brand comes out with a unique take on a done-to-death trend (not that we’re tired of it). Big Star USA released a pair of very charming jeans for spring that feature a smattering of colorful birds on white denim. Understated in a cartoon-y way, they’d be a flawless match for a white silk button-down top or a tailored navy blazer.

This style will hit stores in May, so stay tuned.

Stay Cozy In Buffalo David Bitton’s Perfect Denim Leggings

We’ll be honest: when someone says “denim leggings“, we used to experience some degree of apprehension. When jeggings first hit the market they were straight up spandex blue jean replicas that couldn’t do anyone’s legs any favors (except maybe Conan’s). Luckily, Buffalo David Bitton have taken the denim legging to a new level of chic, and when we pulled them on their hand-dyed Penn leggings last week for the first time, we were blown away by how comfortable and yes, how cute they were. With the perfect amount of stretch and several autumn hues to choose from (like Raspberry, Flame and Black—which is more of a sexy charcoal grey), we were hooked on the versatility and the coziness. If you’re in the market for a fall denim legging that you can wear both in and out of lounge-mode, all while maxing out on comfort and staying stylish, this is the one.

CLOSED Makes Printed Jeans Fit For An Anime Heroine

When we stopped by CLOSED to preview their spring 2013 line, one pair of jeans immediately stood out from the rest in the spectrum of Euro-chic rockstar-ready denim and knitwear. A pair of printed purple jeans with a beautiful motif that looks as if it was snatched right out of a Japanese anime (or a Yakuza tattoo parlor). The dynamic design was also available in a jacket. We’re pretty sure this is the beginning of a next-level trend in printed jeans that really transform the silhouette and infuse some imagination into the kind of prints we’ve already been seeing. You saw it here first!

John Reviews Guerilla24 Selvage Sniper Jeans

Recently, Denim Therapy covered the debut of Guerilla24, a selvage denim brand from Hong Kong.  We decided to review the Sniper straight leg jean in raw selvage ($300) by Guerilla24, and Seattle photographer and style blogger John Bell was happy to help us out with this request.  Since this was John’s first foray into the selvage denim territory, he knew it would be an exciting adventure in testing out a new fashion label.

John Reviews Guerilla24 Selvage Denim Jeans in Sniper Fit

What was your first thought when you tried them on?

They felt really solid and well put together. A tough pair of jeans. The stitching looks great, the indigo color was awesome and I liked the Guerilla24 leather patch label on the back pocket—nice touch.

Where/when would you wear these?
I would wear them out on a normal day with a t-shirt and some Sperry Top-siders; or, I would pair them with a button down and a blazer with some classy wingtip shoes.

How’s the fit?
The fit is great!  The size 30 waist was just right and following down to the bottom, the pants have that smooth, tailored look on me, even though they are slightly looser on the thigh.  Sitting down and bending over, the pants move with me so I’m not uncomfortable.

Go to Guerilla24 online to shop all the styles.

MC Reviews Henry & Belle Super Skinny Ankle in Onyx wash

MC scored a pair of Henry & Belle Super Skinny Ankle in Onyx wash (you’ll recall her adoration for her medium-wash Super Skinny H&B‘s posted a few months back). Indeed, her adoration continues for this cut and this brand. Read her remarks on fit, style, and versatility below.

What was your first thought when you tried them on?

My first thought was how much I love this signature thick stretch denim. There is nothing flimsy about these jeans (that’s a noteworthy problem with some stretch denim on the market, and you don’t want them sagging off your butt after wearing them a few times).

Where/when would you wear these?

I usually reserve dark wash for the colder months—though it’s been overcast and gloomy in NYC lately, so I think I will get a few more wears out of them before I put them away for winter (which is not to say they might not make a few appearances in the nightlife this summer!). I wore them for the review with a sheer peach blouse I found at Crossroads Trading the day before. I think the color combo is great.

How’s the fit?

They’re insanely comfortable and the fit is appropriately snug. I’ve been on a mid-rise/high-rise kick lately though, so I did spend my first wear wishing they would come up just a few inches more (making it easier to tuck the sheer top in). That aside, for my body type, Henry & Belle has never failed me!

MC Reviews NEUW Denim Mid-Rise Marilyn Skinny Jeans

MC tried on a pair of mid-rise Marilyn Skinny Jeans from NEUW Denim recently and hasn’t stopped talking about them since. You can see the jeans in action here (look at the photo on the left—it moves!), and check out what she has to say below.

mc-denim-review-neuw-high-rise-dark-wash-skinny (24)

What was your first thought when you tried them on?

My first thought was how I love high-waisted and mid-rise jeans!  The wash is gorgeous and the details (like the side pocket stitch and the small metal hoop on the belt loop) set these apart.

Where/when would you wear these?

I’d wear these with crop tops and shirts that give the opportunity to show off the higher waist (tucket in, etc). On this particular day I was freezing so I put my vintage Levi’s jacket over the ensemble, but originally it was my summer-beckoning neon yellow crop top and my open-toe 80%20 shoes.

I’d obviously also wear them while taking care of business, screaming on my phone with sunglasses on! See photo for details.

How’s the fit?

Supreme. This denim is thick and supportive (you know what I mean, badonk-adonk!), and there is virtually no stretching out throughout the day. I feel awesome in them. My next mission will be to find high-rise jeans in this perfect fit… but in light wash.

MC Reviews Joe’s Jeans 55 Color Skinnies In Lily Pad

MC reviews her Joe’s Jeans 55 Colors Skinnies in Lily Pad—a pair of subdued pastel jeans that she suspects will stay in her wardrobe for years to come. Why? Scroll and find out!

mc-joes-jeans-skinny-lily

What was your first thought when you tried them on?

I’m pretty mesmerized by the color, so I was hoping as I tried them on that the light hue of the jeans wouldn’t make me look heavier (I know this is a concern for a lot of denim shoppers), but I don’t think they do! I think they look awesome. So I was reeeeally glad about that.

Where/when would you wear these?

You might think these are spring-only because of their color, but imagine pairing these with a chunky sweater and cute boots in the winter! The denim is thick enough to be a cool weather fabric, and I think they’re more versatile since they’re desaturated. I’d say these are all-year-round jeans. Right now I am obsessed with the way they look worn with 80%20 shoes (shown here).

How’s the fit?

Super skinny, they feel pretty tight (I think it’s safe to say they run about 1/4—1/2 small in size). But they are mid-rise and there’s no discomfort around the waist band. After wearing them a couple times (sans-wash) they fit like a glove. Highly recommended!

Francine Reviews The Black Orchid Jewel Mid Rise Jegging

DT’s founder Francine recently got herself into a pair of Black Orchid Jewel Mid Rise Jeggings—similar to the mint green version Kim Kardashian favors in her endless denim collection—and she let us know what she thinks about ‘em! Scroll to find out if they meet her standards for style, fit, and versatility.

Check the jeans out below:

francine-black-orchid-jeggings-denim-review-2

What was your first thought when you tried them on?

I love the color and love the fit. I’ve definitely become a mid-rise type of girl and these jeans are perfect in that regard.

Where/when would you wear these?

They’re versatile—they’re fun because of the bright color but they can be styled to look a little more serious. The color might even be intimidating if these jeans walked into a meeting… But definitely day or night, and all four season!

How’s the fit?

LOVE the fit. They are both comfortable and flattering, and most importantly, they don’t lose their shape after a few hours of wearing them.

MC Reviews The Fidelity Denim Koro Flare In Nautical Blue

DT blog editor Michelle Christina reviews her second pair of Fidelity Denim jeans (the first being the Ace Skinny Jean in Ginza Black) and her second pair of flare-leg jeans since junior high (the first being the MiH flare-leg Marrakesh in Reed). Scroll to find out whether these dark-wash beauties pass the comfort, fit, and wear-ability test!

denim-review-fidelity-koro-flares

Check them out below:

denim-review-fidelity-koro-flares

What was your first thought when you tried them on?

My first thought was that they’ll be needing a quick hem job via Denim Therapy’s hemming service! But my second thought was “these are more comfortable than sweatpants!”

Where/when would you wear these?

Despite the extreme comfort, they have the DNA of denim, so they’re perfect for lounging but ideal for dressing up with a silk blouse & some baubles. I’m really into the idea of transforming them into a nautical look with some sailor stripes and my anchor earrings.

How’s the fit?

In general they’re a great fit—comfortable and flattering. I might have them taken in a bit above the knees where there’s some excess to maximize the silhouette. I wore them all weekend and I haven’t experienced any permanent stretch in the fabric. After my love affair with the Ace Skinny in Ginza and this new denim crush’o'mine, I think Fidelity is becoming a new favorite brand.

Jeans Review: Paige Verdugo Ultra Skinny Legging in Paige Blue

As you may recall, Paige Denim has a new look and they’ve launched so many great styles for Spring 2012, including their trademark Paige Blue hue.   Our writer Kathy, isn’t used to wearing a lot of bright colors, but her favorite color happens to be blue, so she gave the Verdugo Ultra Skinny Legging in Paige Blue a shot.  See her review of the style below.

Kathy reviews the Paige Verdugo Ultra Skinny Legging in Paige Blue.

What was your first thought when you tried them on?

They fit really well on me and surprisingly, for a denim legging, I loved that it sort of gives me a lift, if you know what I mean.

Where/when would you wear these?

They’re very comfortable and I see so many possibilities with them.  You can wear them with a bright top for a daytime street style look, or you can go rocker with a black leather jacket and boots for an evening out in Hollywood.  I’m excited to see more jeans styles made in Paige Blue!

How’s the fit?

I love the fact that the jeans didn’t choke my knees, and the inseam (at 30″) is perfect for flats or ankle boots.  The jeans feel really soft and there’s just enough stretch for mobility; and, it recovers to keep everything in its place.

Love these jeans? Grab your pair of The Paige Verdugo Ultra Skinny Legging jean in Paige Blue ($179) at Paige online or similar colors at REVOLVE Clothing.   Jeans courtesy of Paige.
