Unlike its current denim shorts in the Tanzania wash, Paige Premium Denim has kicked it up a notch with the Super-Tanzania wash: a super stretch jean which comes in the Verdugo Jegging and the Curson Cargo (coming September).  The jegging comes without the trademark waistband lining, for added flexibility.  Cargo skinny jeans are super hot right now, so if you dare to go military-camouflage crazy, then this is the jean for you.  Note: the Super-Tanzania wash is not currently listed on the Web site.  Contact your local store or retailer for pre-orders.

If you’re trying to wean yourself off of denim, then you’re out of luck. Topshop Topman is going for the jugular, with its offerings of denim footwear, wallets, hats, even a neck chain!  If the name sounds familiar, Topshop Topman is the men’s department of Topshop, the international boutique and brand made famous with the help of supermodel Kate Moss.  Topman also has a neat little collection of denim jeans, as well as a suave denim blazer or two.

Just launched this week:
Topman’s edgy AAA Collection.  Design Director Gordon Richardson wanted to create a mainstay music-inspired collection that “made you look and feel like a rock star.”

For Autumn/Winter 2010:
Look for Fairisle sweaters and toggle coats for Topman’s Autumn/Winter 2010 collection.  Cargo pants will continue to play a role in Topman’s fickle fashion foreplay in the frosty months (They currently carry Nautical and edgy!).

Reality Star Does ‘Man Makeunder’ in Denim Jeans

george-and-productsgeorge weisgerber

I was not excited they chose a pair of raggedy, vintage 80s (not the cool kind) jeans as part of the makeunder clothes. There are plenty of inexpensive — albeit designer — jeans that he could’ve worn that would have been toned down enough to be less metro. A pair of inexpensive, better-fitting Cheap Mondays or even Gap jeans would’ve been fine, no?

From Asylum For All Mankind:

I take pride in my reputation as a quintessential metrosexual with an impeccable appearance — custom-fitted suits; polished Italian shoes; coiffed hair; buffed nails; and, most importantly, smooth, clean-shaven, moisturized skin.

Maintaining my appearance-conscious lifestyle is not an easy feat and requires considerable time, money and effort.

My bathroom is filled with a plethora of personal-care products, including (but not limited to): cleansers, moisturizers, lotions, exfoliating scrubs, aluminum-free deodorants, shaving creams, tongue scrapers, whitening strips, shampoos and conditioners. I visit Kiehl’s, Dermalogica and The Art of Shaving more frequently than the grocery store.

My aesthetic-enhancing efforts have not been for naught. When I was a contestant on “I Love New York 2,” Ms. New York honored me with the title “Tailor Made,” paying homage to my collection of tailor-made suits.

All this somehow led to me being challenged to a “man makeunder” (i.e., no “excessive grooming” for 14 days).

I will admit my personal-care regimen is a tad over-the-top, consisting of weekly MANicures (buffed, not polished); biweekly haircuts, pedicures and mini-facials; and monthly chest, eyebrow and underarm waxing.

When my girlfriend and I first started dating, my daily application of a moisturizing aloe vera mask caused her to scream so loud one morning that my neighbor called to see if everything was all right. I even remove the hair from my nostrils using herbal wax on a stick, which is so worth the pain…

Denim News: Brooklyn Denim Company Now Open

Brooklyn Denim Co

Oh, those denim bandwagoneers are relentless.  Just try to stop them from starting a new company from the ground up (gee, I wonder who), spinning off new denim labels (yep, heard that one before) or opening new stores!  Don’t you get it?  Denim is here to stay.  You can’t extinguish our love.

– Kathy Ng Hassan

From Racked NY:

When the recession first hit, there was a lot of talk about how the already-volatile Williamsburg retail scene would survive. The owners of Brooklyn Denim Company, a new jeans-and-more shop, took the rare optimistic approach. Rather than hunkering down and waiting for the economy to improve, they decided to open a neighborhood-focused store in Williamsburg promoting the world’s best denim brands, which they figured could use a boost.   Click here to read more.
