d.brand’s Take On Formal Wear: Chambray Bowties

Heading out on the town in a pair of jeans, gents? If so, you might consider matching your jeans to your bowtie the same way you would match your silk-wool blend slacks to a sleek neckpiece. d.brand has the answer to this menswear riddle with a very charming chambray denim bowtie. We’re pretty sure you can get away with wearing this during the day, too.

Kuro Denim Stays True To Their Tailored x Vintage Aesthetic

Last time we linked up with Kuro, they showed us a gradient of denim washed, aged, and treated for different lengths of time, and told us the best way to wear distressed vintage jeans was with a tailored blazer and a crisp, clean button-down. Sound advice that doesn’t expire, it turns out, since we ran into them this week and they were keeping with their vintage meets tailored aesthetic. “Denim for the Yohji fan,” they explained, showing us a dapper mannequin outfitted in the customer image. Selvedge trimmed back pockets, top-stitching, and other details characterize this impressive Japanese brand. Check them out online for more on their philosophy and products.

Fake It Till You Break It: Earnest Sewn Offers Convincing Distressed Denim

Got a cellphone with sharp edges? Or a cellphone that you’ll use for the next three years? We didn’t think so. But you don’t need either of these things if you’ve got a pair of Earnest Sewn’s expertly distressed men’s jeans. Unlike obvious “artistic” distressing you’ll see in some lines, their jeans have subtle, rugged details like a worn-in cell-in-pocket facade and a bit of ripping near the hem. Denim Therapy may be in the business of fixing holes in jeans, but we’re no less impressed when a brand creates good, authentic distressing for the sake of style.

Big Star USA Does Bird-Printed Jeans For Spring

We’ve seen flowers, we’ve seen paisley…heck, we’ve even seen skeletons prancing on printed jeans! So it’s super refreshing when a brand comes out with a unique take on a done-to-death trend (not that we’re tired of it). Big Star USA released a pair of very charming jeans for spring that feature a smattering of colorful birds on white denim. Understated in a cartoon-y way, they’d be a flawless match for a white silk button-down top or a tailored navy blazer.

Jean.Machine X Missoni Collaborate For AW13

Jean.Machine unveiled an exciting collaboration with Missoni during the men’s AW13 runway show last week in Milan. Jean.Machine’s signature styles were re-worked to feature iconic Missoni knit patterns (an amazing alternative to men’s colored denim for those who want to side-step obvious trends this year) on details such as pockets. Another favorite, the JM 4 jacket, was redesigned to include a detachable Missoni wool waistcoat on the inside. All styles will be available in early June from the Jean Machine website, Missoni stores worldwide, and other select retail locations.

Denim Therapy Donates Denim To The HaitiCorps International Handbag Project

Denim Therapy has been donating unclaimed jeans to a good cause, and now we want you to see the results. Launched in November, 2011, the handbag project is a partnership between HaitiCorps International and FAVILEK (Fanm Viktim Leve Kanpe/Women Victims Get Up Stand Up), an organization dedicated to helping women who have been victims of gender-based violence.

Through the Handbag Project, HCI and FAVILEK will train women in sewing and other techniques and offer stable employment with a fair wage. A profit-sharing agreement between HCI and FAVILEK will ensure that the project remains responsive to the needs of Haitians themselves and will allow FAVILEK to expand its much-needed programs to more vulnerable women. See some of our jeans transformed into handbags below.

Wrangler’s Latest Denim Invention Will Lotion Up Your Legs

Wrangler is releasing jeans that will take one step out of your morning beauty routine, provided you’re stepping into a pair of them. They’re moisturizing jeans, which, in theory, means smoother gams and happier you. Aptly named Denim Spa, they promise anti-cellulite components and moisturizers from natural elements like apricot kernel oil, rosehip oil, and passion fruit oil. Too good to be true? We’ll have to wait and see.

wrangler-moisturizing-jeans

“The jeans—which will retail for $135 and be sold on ASOS—come in three different “finishes:” Aloe Vera, Olive Extract, and Smooth Legs (the supposed cellulite-fighter), but there is one caveat: The effects of the ingredients only last up to 15 days (around 67-95 wears), but a reloading spray will also available to buy.” (Stylecaster)
