Miranda Kerr Poses Topless (& Bottomless) In Blumarine

Miranda Kerr reminds us that sex sells, and it sells denim, even when she’s not wearing any pants! The Victoria’s Secret model wore Bluemarine denim in a Vogue Italia spread, sporting bleach blonde hair with blunt bangs and never too many articles of clothing at once. In one shot she appears topless in a vest, while in another, she goes bottomless. The thing is, she’s selling women’s jeans. Does this make you want to shop, ladies? Let us know on facebook or sound off on twitter.

Happy Halloween From Denim Therapy!

Happy Halloween from the DT family! Remember to stay safe tonight if you’re going out for Halloween, especially if you’re living in or near the path of destruction Hurricane Sandy left for us. That was definitely a trick, not a treat—our offices have been closed for days thanks to her wrath. But still, have fun and enjoy!

CLOSED Makes Printed Jeans Fit For An Anime Heroine

When we stopped by CLOSED to preview their spring 2013 line, one pair of jeans immediately stood out from the rest in the spectrum of Euro-chic rockstar-ready denim and knitwear. A pair of printed purple jeans with a beautiful motif that looks as if it was snatched right out of a Japanese anime (or a Yakuza tattoo parlor). The dynamic design was also available in a jacket. We’re pretty sure this is the beginning of a next-level trend in printed jeans that really transform the silhouette and infuse some imagination into the kind of prints we’ve already been seeing. You saw it here first!

How To Rock This Moscow-Based Blogger’s Fall Denim Style

We’re crushing hard on Moscow style blogger and personal shopper Alexandra Osina (of Styled By Alexandra) ‘s fall denim look right now. She mixes denim shorts, jackets, and skirts with unexpected pieces and to create quirky, flirty autumn ensembles that get awesome marks across the board. Check out her recent outfits below and get a quick lesson in her unique approach to denim styling.

.

The look: Sweater with medium-above-the-knee denim skirt

Where to wear it: Cute look for the office and a meeting over coffee with a client.

Tip: Hem lengths are key in pulling this off. The skirt should fall above the knees (but no shorter) and the sweater should fall just below the waistline (but not shorter). The fullness of the skirt keeps things casual and chic.

The Look: Denim sequined shorts with denim workshirt & tights

Where to wear it: A great look for shopping and hanging out with friends.

Tip: Switch the playful coat for a sharp blazer for a night-friendly look.

Up Close: Public School’s New York-Made Mens’ Denim Line

We spend 8 hours per day looking at denim: the jeans Denim Therapy customers send to our office from every corner of the world in order to salvage them after years of loyal “favorite jeans” service.  After so many run-ins with jeans from different brands and price points, you start to understand the meaning of true craftsmanship and high quality manufacturing. The trained denim-lover’s eye starts appreciating when garments are executed with integrity without sacrificing the details that set jeans apart.

It’s this kind of integrity that makes us love Public School and their newly launched men’s denim line. That their latest presentations at Milk Studios and at the James Hotel showcased polished and refined jeans. All of them are made in New York City. The collection brings together local textiles as well as  Italian and Japanese raw denim in styles and cuts already are a signature of the city we live in. Our favorites were the PS 13 All natural white 10.5 Oz Cone jeans and the PS14 Indigo Selvedge, made from 100% white oak mill 13.75 oz denim. This is a brand that the CFDA already has on their radar, and we believe  every New Yorker should start collecting wardrobe staples from their line up.

Grunge-Chic: Plaid Denim Leggings

Like most girls who grew up in the 90s, Gwen Stefani still holds a very special place in our hearts, much like the plaid punk rock pants she used to rock on stage with belly shirts and wallet chains.  Now’s your chance to recapture some of that badass style in a more refined way: Topshop’s denim plaid leggings are perfect for wearing under a big chunky sweater or styling with a tailored blazer and heels.

Denim Therapy Featured In November’s InStyle Magazine

Denim Therapy’s expert denim care advice was featured in the November issue of InStyle Magazine! Our founder Francine Rabinovich reveals the best way to wash jeans and reduce fading:

“Typical jeans, no matter how dark or light, are dyed with indigo. Like paint, indigo eventually chips off. Minimize color loss by turning your pair inside out before tossing them in the washer. The major exception is coated denim, which should never come near a laundy machine (it breaks down the finish). Soak it in lukewarm water with a few drops of Woolite, rinse, then air-dry.”
