Our favorite women’s street style look at the PROJECT NY show? This red hot combo of a crayon-colored hat and cut-off shredded hem shorts, paired with black spike-studded boots. The American flag in the background was a lucky coincidence.

Just a reminder that we are taking video submissions for the next seven days, both in the comments section here and on our Facebook page to win FREE REPAIRS for your favorite jeans! The terms are simple: From now until July 31, we will be accepting video submissions from all of you, telling us what your favorite jeans need to be perfect again – rips, holes, fraying, missing buttons, too big, too small, pocket falling off — whatever your baby blues require, we can fix it. Then, during the first week of August, we will announce a winner (best video, lots of pizzazz, most helpless-seeming pair of jeans), and that person will receive completely free repairs! Plus, all runners-up will have their videos featured here and on our Facebook page. So fire up your cameras, grab your most desperate denim, and tell us what’s wrong. Then, simply upload the video in a reply here or in a Facebook message to us. You’ve got nothing to lose and so much to gain! Good luck!

While spring 2012 saw a massive influx of mint green jeans for women (one of our favorite street style friends), next spring the guys will take over the candy-hued jean. Brands like Nudie Jeans, d.brand, Gilded Age, and Australia’s latest import Ziggy Denim all have options for trying out the trend.
Preview some of our favorite styles from the PROJECT floor below.

Miley Cyrus, who we spotted browsing the aisles at PROJECT NY yesterday in SoHo, recently stepped out in a pair of light wash cut-off shorts, adorned with spike studs. She styled them with knee high socks and chunky heeled boots. Are these shorts a DIY project in the making? Perhaps! But if you just want to get your hands on a pair, try this style by TEXTILE Elizabeth & James.

Kill City‘s latest initiatives involve in-store semi-exclusives for men and women (also sold to a few select retailers). The men’s picks include cone mill denim stripped and over-dyed. We saw a few selects from the fall collection in autumnal hues and classic blue, as well as a gorgeous denim biker jacket with coated sleeves. The women’s line includes neon lemon and mango colored denim skinny jeans that—let’s face it—you can wear all year round.
The brand’s direction is aimed at bringing a new concept to fast fashion: extremely affordable jeans and sportswear that uses the maximum quality fabrication and hardware. Rather than go cheaper in both price and quality, they’re keeping their product top shelf for way less than the competition.

Public School‘s crisp new men’s denim line has one aesthetic aim: New York-centric. The tailored set has innovative pieces like a candle-wax coated canvas jean that molds to your body as it heats and cools, as well as classics like an indigo over-dyed slim fit and raw basics. The forward-thinking line shows no sign of vintage wear and tear—just fresh, wearable jeans that lend themselves flawlessly to the urban man’s wardrobe. The NY-made collection will officially debut at the SS13 presentation in September.

We love Gilded Age‘s spray-dyed and worn in vintage denim, but it was their newest men’s t-shirt collection that caught our interest at PROJECT today. The designer opted to pay homage to vintage car companies with each style, screening the company logo on a desaturated tee and including information on the hang tag (such as the lifespan of the company and what models they produced). He chose lesser known companies—like The Horseless Age, Simplex, and Knox—some of which only stayed in business a few years. We rounded up our favorites below.

Remember Ziggy Denim’s FW12 lookbook, featuring paper bag-clad models and body paint? We just got an up-close look at the collection and fell hard for their wild printed floral denim and intense color palette. Upon closer examination we discovered inconspicuous skeletons dancing between the flowers… spooky!
The super playful brand (with fit names like the “super tight ankle biter”) is making their US debut at a below-$100 price point, which surprised us after we got our hands on how amazing the jeans and chinos feel. Check out some of the spring 2013 womens’ styles below.
Keep your eye on Ziggy Denim!
