Kate Moss is nearing forty, but still has what it takes to keep us captivated (the sign of a true supermodel!). She’s in the new spring/summer 2012 Mango campaign, with smoky eyes, slick hair, and simple-yet-sublime style. While the only denim shown from the collection are a pair of blue jeans and pale denim shorts, we’re fans of the light, springtime styling. Because, um, pastel sweaters and airy white tees? Totally game. Especially when Ms. Moss is involved.

1. Last weekend, Raf Simons presented his final collection at Milan Fashion Week as Creative Director for Jil Sander, because the founder of the brand is returning. The womenswear is gorgeous, by the way. Perhaps Simons will go back to further developing his namesake denim? Fingers crossed.
2. On February 21, G-Star RAW opened their largest global flagship store in the world, a 7,319 square feet brick-and-mortar store in Hong Kong. The event was marked by stuntmen walking down the building and a traditional lion dance, with indigo blue lions. Watch the G-Star grand opening event online.
3. Kellan Lutz is certainly becoming a fashion fixture. Between his acting and design collaboration with clothing brand Abbot+Main, he still found time to squeeze in front row at the Simon Spurr fashion show during NYFW.
4. Shopbop has a ONE by collection, a collaboration between multiple brands which feature covetable pieces on limited supply, such as this denim oxford shoe (featured above) by Anniel ($135).
5. What are you doing on Instagram? We found a couple of musician/concert photographers from IndieRockReviews.com, wearing Volcom and RVCA jeans out in SoCal. Photo via Tim Johnson (@timtom949).

Think you’ve had enough of all the crazy denim trends this year? We think clothing brand CLOSED will provide some relief with their range of wearable denim from top to bottom. Maintaining a bit of color in its range of jeans, cotton pants and separates, you’ll feel like you could invest in a couple of solid items that will stretch out your wear longer than the seasons. Closed is also one of the few denim brands currently offering denim capris—a perfect cut for ladies who want to show off their new favorite booties. We’re also digging the sartorial touches in the men’s collection. Check out the gallery below for all the Fall-Winter 2012 looks.

8 is the magic number! This is one tip we stand by with both feet firmly planted, but Lucky Mag is here to reinforce it why we have to be careful how many inches should be accounted for in the rise of your waistband:
“Don’t go too low: Steer clear of jeans with anything less than an eight-inch rise, especially if you don’t have six-pack abs. (The rise, by the way, is the distance from the crotch to the top of the waistband.) If the top button is any lower than three inches below your navel, even the slightest post-lunch tummy pooch can look like a full-fledged muffin top, and who wants that? Well, someone, probably.”
…Well, even if someone does want that, we don’t want that for you. Heed the 8″ rule! And remember, high-rise doesn’t mean high-waisted, to the belly-button. See three of our favorite picks for high-rise jeans below.

1. Tenue de Nîmes posted part 2 and part 3 of their “denim heaven” adventure in LA. The photos are definitely worth oogling.
2. VIGOSS created a melancholy-romantic campaign video for their denim line, and we kind of love it.

5. Michael Bastian FW12 had some slick men’s denim styling on the runway—our favorite look is a beige cord suite layered over a dark-wash denim workshirt.

Remember our tip on red shoes and blue jeans? Looks like Mandy Moore knows what’s up! She stepped out recently in a pair of dark wash Current/Elliott jeans cuffed up to showcase her bright red flats, paired with a nautical striped sweater. The entire look is completely timeless, and simple timeless looks should never be underestimated. Want this look? Grab a pair of Current/Elliott Skinny jeans in Loved Wash ($206).

Clothing label Babakul picked models that remind us of Jane Birkin and her It Girl daughter, Lou Doillon, for their Spring-Summer 2012 range of Hippie jeans, and we do mean 70s fashion redux. After all, Babakul is a French translation for “hippie.” This consistent collection of classic denim silhouettes—featuring flared wide leg jeans in high waists, soft denim shorts and a flirty denim dress—are sure to be great music festival fashion staples. We suddenly wanted to put on some Serge Gainsbourg and fiddle around with an acoustic guitar (even if we can’t play one). Babakul is simply killing us with their tranquil, laid-back styling, a product of the Los Angeles-based company founded by denim industry veterans who have together founded True Religion and Taverniti jeans.

SOLD Design Lab is busting out their colored jeans for spring, but what really caught our eye are some of their beautiful floral, tie-dye and tribal denim shorts. If you’re not particularly a fan of these trends, you might reconsider, as SOLD put a delicate hand on incorporating these motifs into their collection. And if you’d prefer to wear your trends on top, their blue and pastel jeans selection (check out their version of a mint green denim!) is pretty solid as well. Using denim as a canvas to create something vibrant, colorful and fun to wear for those gorgeous summer days ticks off the “cool jeans” list in our book.
