3 Denim Scarves–And The Tops To Wear Them With

When it comes to your denim comfort zone, scarves may deviate from the jeans, dresses, and jackets that you’re used to seeing on a daily basis, but that doesn’t mean you should shy away from them. Take the risk and layer a lightweight scarf over a striped shirt for a casual Sunday brunch or toughen up a bright yellow cashmere sweater with a rough-edged chambray confection. For a quirkier take, top a simple black V-neck with an acid-wash denim scarf. It’s unexpected, but comfy and easy to pull off. (Obviously, we’re big fans.)

Nikita Stardust Denim Scarf Women ($64.94) — buy it at Blue Tomato Shop

Duffy Cotton and cashmere-blend racer-back top ($61.25) — buy it at The Outnet

MIH Denim Cate Chambray Scarf ($160) — buy it at Free People

Yves Saint Laurent Cashmere and silk-blend top ($850) — buy it at Net-A-Porter

It Jeans: Helmut Lang Acid Trip Spider Web Skinny Jeans For Pre-Fall 2012

What happens when you expose spiders to LSD, Marijuana and pure caffeine?  You get the most amazing abstract web patterns—the inspiration behind the Helmut Lang Pre-Fall 2012 Collection.  If you’ve ever been unsure about rocking a pair of printed jeans, then the spider web art on jeans might change your mind.  After studying photographs of these webs, husband and wife design team Nicole and Michael Colovos injected the web patterns throughout this collection.  You’ll find the intoxicated web creations printed or as burnouts on the jeans.  Could these be the new It Jeans?  Helmut Lang clothing remains both hard with razor cut angles and soft with fluid draping; while, its range of skinny jeans and cropped, baggy drop-crotch pants, serve as the constant.

DKNY Jeans Perks Up Its Color Palette For S/S 2012

DKNY Jeans shies away from its usual dark, urban brand of sexy for graphic punches of color that are destined to be worn at springtime picnics and summer days at the beach. This season, the label is big on cropped jeans in Easter egg hues like lavender, pale yellow, and sugary pink, in stark contrast to their normal black and gray palette. On the flip side, we’re also getting nautical vibes from their flare leg jeans, striped shirts, sweaters, and sailor-ready navy blues and bright whites. There’s a lot to a choose from, perfect for the street-savvy DKNY girl looking to branch out.

Wrangler’s 7 Icons: Easy Ways To Recognize Great Denim

When it comes to classic denim, look no further than Wrangler. The brand started in 1904 with the  Hudson Overall Company, a denim manufacturer. Over time and after many name changes, Wrangler came to be in the 1940s. And when you’re a brand as legendary as Wrangler, you want your denim to be known for what it is–that’s why these 7 icons make it so easy to spot these great quality jeans:

1. Flat Rivets: Rivets make sure that your denim stays together through the daily wear and tear you put it through, but ones that aren’t flat can be really uncomfortable! Wrangler solves that problem with a flat style so this won’t ever be an issue again.

2. Watch Pocket: Originally designed by expert tailor Ben Lichtenstein, this watch pocket was deeper than others and makes sure that no matter what you put in it is staying right where you want it.

3. Felled Seams: While the comfort that was originally sought from the seam sitting flat against your leg came from the popularity of horseback riding, nowadays it is just as important. After all, who knows what kind of situation  you will get yourself into, especially when wearing jeans as great as these.

4. Belt Loops: Unlike other brands, Wrangler jeans have seven belt loops opposed to common five. These two extra belt loops ensure your jeans stay in place, all the time.

5. “W” Stitching”: On the back of every pair of Wrangler jeans, you can find two “w”s stitched on the pockets for “Western Wear”. There is also a second layer of fabric stitched into the back pocket, so you know these jeans are made to last.

6.The Patch: When these jeans were first being made, you could find a patch that says “Blue Bell’s Wrangler Authentic Western Jeans” on the back right pocket, but today just the name Wrangler will be found. Simple, but powerful.

7. Rope logo: The rope logo signifies everything that Wrangler is–tough, lasting denim that is up for anything. Denim for the adventurer, no matter what the situation.

See them in order, below:

These seven icons can still be found on Wrangler jeans today, and we like to think that when it comes to something that has stayed the same for this long…well why fix something that isn’t broken.

Got a tip you think we should include, a sale you want to share, or a style you just saw and can’t live without? Email us!

1. Lindsay Lohan has already made a big splash with her Playboy cover shoot, but the actress has some other leaked images out…from her fiercely sexy Jag Jeans photo shoot.

2. San Francisco-based shirt company Taylor Stitch is branching out into denim! At $128 a pair, their personally crafted raw denim gets you handmade men’s jeans at a not-exorbitant price.

3. Love hidden images and secrets embedded in your clothing? Stella McCartney‘s new Hawaiian print jeans look tie-dyed from afar, but are really made up of palm trees printed over and over again.

4. Ferrari understands that denim can mean luxury. The car company now offers its customers the choice to line their vehicles with a denim interior.

5. Look out for G-Star Raw’s new campaign come January–it stars French beauty Clémence Poésy, who was just named the new face of the brand.

MC Reviews Doctrine Jeans High-Waisted Dark Wash Skinnies

Renee reviewed her pair of Doctrine Jeans high-waisted dark wash skinnies last week, and she loved them. Our blog editor Michelle Christina felt similarly, citing an amazing fit, comfort, and appealing wash as three reasons she’d wear them every day. After hanging out with Doctrine at the past few NYC trade shows and getting a feel for the line, we’ve begun to fall hard for their superior quality denim and fashion-forward silhouettes.  MC provides the details below.

mc denim review doctrine jeans

What was your first thought when you tried them on? It was my first time trying on Doctrine, so I was excited—I knew they were going to be amazing after getting my hands all over their jeans at Project and ENK. The feel of the fabric is crisp with a bit of stretch, but their luxurious and comfortable.

Where/when would you wear these? I love wearing them with a blazer like I did for this shoot. This winter I’d tuck a jewel tone blouse into them and wear some heeled boots or metallic flats. Big chunky jewelry also works super well with mid-to-high rise silhouettes.

How’s the fit? Just amazing. They’re the first pair of high-waisted jeans I’ve tried on that really flatter my figure. They’re designed for keeping it classy (and hide the right flaws).
