Everyone wants to be rich and skinny! And while we can’t all have that luxury, we can wear Rich & Skinny jeans. The brand is the joint endeavor of Michael Glasser (founder of 7 For All Mankind and Citizens of Humanity) and Joie Rucker (head designer of Levi’s and Guess?). As they aim to re-define denim commerce in the digital age, their focus is keeping their customers happy with jeans that’ll make them feel good in what they’re wearing. We stopped by their booth at Coterie to see the holiday and spring collection, and they showed us an array of animal prints in pastels and rich metallic fall hues (coated and sparkling) for holiday. A basic skinny jean with a bit of stretch and loads of styling potential is one of the kind of staple we search out in the market. Fidelity Denim‘s Ace skinny jean is one such option, featuring a mid-rise waist (which keeps everything that should be hidden, hidden) a stretch flexibility without feeling too thin. The dark, rich hue of the Ginza Black wash lends itself perfectly to fall styling, including medium-wash denim workshirts and bright plaids. DT’s blog editor Michelle Christina reviews her pair below.
What was your first thought when you tried them on? I thought, “I really never wear black jeans, but these are going to go with everything in my closet, so I might just start.” They’re definitely a versatile pair to have around for fall/winter. I’m wearing them with boots here, but imagine them with wedge heels! Instant dress-up, and it works.
Where/when would you wear these? I wore them for my Black Friday shopping excursion last week. They were great jeans to run around shopping in all day because they’re stretchy and comfy. I think they’re good with an oversized sweater or a cardigan like I wore for this shoot (my favorite new cardigan by Moussy). They’d look just as good with a tailored jacket.
How’s the fit? They’re snug, with stretch—I’m going to hem them a couple inches since they’re bunching up on my knees. The waist fits very well—it’s high enough in the back to keep it classy.

Leather is in this season and we’re not complaining! It looks great with denim, and always creates a very polished look–but be careful because too much leather can be dangerous! Leather is one thing you do not want to overdo, as you can easily end up looking like you’re part of your town’s local biker gang. A great way to have a more toned down version of the sleek look of leather on leather is by pairing it with coated denim, just like this fashion blogger from New Zealand does. The black leather jacket and black tee go perfectly with the black coated skinny jeans. They look so sharp together, without the overwhelming effect leather on leather can have, a la Sandra Dee from Grease. We mean, yes that look IS a classic, but some things are meant to stay on the big screen (or in your Halloween pictures).

We’re all about unexpected combos, and that’s exactly what the Meltin’ Pot spring 2012 lookbook is all about. They’ve put together the perfect rock meets square mix of ink and bonafide bad-assery with nice guy separates like paisley printed shirts and khakis, proving that tough guys can definitely do preppy. Of course no bad boy’s closet (or Meltin’ Pot fanatic’s closet for that matter) would be complete without some killer denim (the original tough guy staple) to finish off the look. Unexpected and totally ace! Check out the lookbook bellow!

No one does it quite like Kate Moss. She rocks a minimalist Brit-chic style like no other, and her brand choice to rock such a style is Siwy Denim. She was seen around London on a few occasions, first in the Hannah Slim Crop in It’s Magic wash ($154). For the latter outing it was the same skinny jean style but in a lighter One Love wash ($189) She rocked one pair with an oversized fur coat and (just as big) sunnies, while the other look was more refined with a tailored wool jacket and scarf. If winter ever officially arrives, we know what we’ll be wearing!

Japanese brand Delikatessen released a whimsical lookbook for their spring 2012 menswear collection entitled “Blowing of the Bubbles”. And it does indeed feature giant soapy bubbles. Also featured, colored denim in muted kelly green and peach, with chambray and denim shorts and workshirts in the mix. Styled with slip-on keds and bowties, the clothes are light hearted and easy to wear, but still live up to a hip urban dresscode. You can get a closer look at the clothing in the adjacent lookbook, where models pose in the looks sans-bubbly fun.

Hudson Jeans makes headlines. They’ve always got a fresh project going on, whether they’re casting stars for their campaigns, collaborating on high-tech textiles, or making big strides towards the wellbeing of women world-wide. Their deliveries are solid, on-trend, and worth looking forward to, and spring 2012 is no exception! When they showed us what’s in store post-snow and slush, we were overwhelmed with visions of spring and summer frivolity, thanks to a breezy pastel color palette, playful pinstripes, and vintage washed jeans with wide legs. They showed nautical stripes, acid washed cut-off shorts, and pop-color separates like a saturated peach tank top, too. Have a look at our favorite selections below.
