1. We’re loving this vintage OshKosh B’Gosh tag that shows different men’s size overalls—you can’t really call a size “short and fat” anymore. (P.S. This blog post at Rawr Denim is a thorough look at raw denim from a fashion vs. utility perspective).
2. There are only three pairs of jeans left from the CLOSED x Denimology for Japan jeans collection. If you favor bleach-splattered, rock’n’roll denim, check them out.
3. Check out these five in-demand Canadian denim brands, including Fidelity and Naked & Famous.
4. Fashionista dubs the G-Star 3301 series the “perfect pair of classic jeans” for their fit, versatility, and high quality.
5. Joe’s Jeans is releasing 55 colors of their classic skinny fit, which means you can own a pair of jeans to wear for every different mood you find yourself in. We’ll show you the full spectrum tomorrow morning!

Would it be much of a stretch if we said that French fashion label Kulte‘s new “Belle” campaign is a tip of the hat to the “Belle Epoque,” a period from the late 19th century to the period leading up to World War I? The men’s campaign model, showcasing several denim pieces from the Autumn-Winter 2011 collection, channels Charlie Chaplin (who was wildly popular at the time) in some instances. Although each ensemble is decidedly modern, you get the definite feel that vintage inspirations had a major influence in this photoshoot (not unlike Kulte’s last ’60s-inspired campaign). This new season of offerings: denim outerwear, rugged slim jeans and a slim corduroy blazer and accessories prepares a would-be traveler or Outdoorsman for a frosty winter trek ahead.

“It’s a tough choice to make between the 3, but when it comes down to it, I love the classic look of the Kaylie Sexy Slim Bootcut in Rosalie Ann wash. With short legs like mine, I need a pair of jeans that can help “lengthen” them! You can also dress these jeans up or down and would easily match with any piece in my wardrobe.”

You probably remember how madly in love we fell with 80%20 when we saw their denim, chambray, and canvas shoes last March. We stopped by their Coterie booth this past weekend and guess what… they’re at it again for spring 2012! Their easy-to-wear color palette and innovative, flattering-on-everyone footwear will find perfect chemistry with any cut and style of denim in your inventory, from flares to cropped, skinny, and boyfriend. We personally own over five pairs of last season’s line, so we can attest. In fact, we wore one pair so much we had to order a back-up pair of the same style. Obsessed? Yes. We snapped a few pics of new styles for you to yearn for—but until they’re available, you can grab a pair from the current collection here.

Denim Therapy has been so busy pounding the trade show floors that we barely had time to sleep. However, we couldn’t not talk about New York Fashion Week before we moved onto the next shows! Denim has gone glam in the form of metallic jeans for Spring 2012 (Diesel Black Gold), and there is a return to and continuation of patchwork and panel denim motifs (Charlotte Ronson and D&G). Although there were several other brands which had denim represented in their collections, we only chose to feature a few designer labels which we feel really worked with and integrated denim into their collections in a deeper sense. Which denim trend do you think will make a big splash come spring?
Diesel Black Gold Spring-Summer 2012: metallic jeans in reflective foil, reptilian and shimmery abalone-green hues offered lustre and texture to denim. The brand continues to redefine itself as not just a brand about blue jeans. More Diesel Black Gold online at Style.com.
Theyskens’ Theory Spring-Summer 2012: Olivier Theyskens still loves black and white, but he has thrown in vibrant acid-washed jeans and high-waisted, drop-crotch denim with drop-waist belt loops, creating an illusion of a low waist. Will this be the game changer? More Theyskens’ Theory online at Style.com.
: Patchwork denim, denim and chambray panels, and denim pieced together with silk in muted and faded washes, shows Ronson’s desire to keep the fun, flirty and feminine in a woman’s everyday wardrobe. We loved that Ronson used denim as both the main ingredient and the accent fabric in this collection. More
The Dream Denim Collection is Raven Denim‘s latest capsule collection, designed by Kaley Cuoco of the “Big Bang Theory” and Brian Austin Green alongside in-house Creative Director, Ya-el Torbati. We mentioned this earlier in our Denim Dose, but here’s the full scoop. The women’s collection (for which 20% of proceeds will benefit the Friends of Animals Foundation in LA) is designed to be worn with a t-shirt and heels. The Shirley (named after Cuoco’s rescued pit bull) is a dark trouser with a slim leg, while Kaley is an ode to her love of cropped, skinny jeans, with 9″ gold zippers on the calves.
As for the men’s collection, it’s no surprise Brian Austin Green is taking part, as he’s always seen in Raven Denim. He worked off his two favorite fits in the men’s collection, creating new fabric textures and washes that satisfied the actor’s preference for rugged, yet effortless style. As for giving back to the community, 20% of sales will be donated to the charity of his choice. If you ask us, looking great in denim never felt this good!

We were already stoked the first time MiH Jeans collaborated with Net-A-Porter on the Spring 2011 capsule collection, and the second time around has us revving up our e-shopping engines too. For Fall 2011 they’re offering luxurious silk, velvet and cord fabrications in autumnal shades of bronze, burgundy and navy. Founder and Creative Director Chloe Lonsdale, says “We really wanted to capture the essence of that chic gamine vibe and tap into the mood of the season, while also offering an approachable way to wear these trends.” You’ll find ’70s style high-waist trousers, flare legs, pleated skirts, fitted blazers, and other fall fashion essentials that really round out this smart and tasteful set. “I was particularly inspired by Julie Christie and Annie Hall; the understated sophistication of their uptown/downtown style that stood the test of time,” says Lonsdale.

When it comes to wow-factor, Bleulab Reversible Denim is on the top of everyone’s list, from the ladies in our office to celebs and downtown socialites whose style we adore. They come out with intense combos, like acid wash lace print on one side, and coated pink waxy finish on the other (think splash of Pepto-Bismol on a lacy dress, except you’re wearing it, and it’s gorgeous). When we caught a glimpse of what they’ve got in store for next season, we had cartoon-hearts in our eyes. After covering basic trends like animal prints and faux-skins in the fall line, they went all-out superstar with metallic silver, cracker leather, and electric red. But it’s not all novelty: they’re offering a perfect dark-wash flare leg jean.
For spring, the palette goes saturated and light with electric candy colors like violet and lime. Shorts are printed in florals and oversized houndstooth. Snakeskin reappears in a lighter, cropped style. Light wash jeans and acid wash are rampant (and look amazing). And don’t forget—every jean has a totally different interior for flipping inside-out and wearing all over again. Two amazing pairs of jeans for the price of one. Our absolute favorite? This shimmering line of metallic teal and violet snakeskin shorts. We are literally clawing at our laptop screens.
