After looking at the Mavi Jeans Fall 2011 Campaign, we are more than ready for back-to-school shopping (AKA the only positive thing about this time of year). Photographer Tom Corbett shows how dark wash denim for both men and women is a great match for other autumn fashions, like hats, scarves, and the beloved classic, plaid button-downs. So whether or not you’re hitting the books this fall or if you just want to freshen up your wardrobe, Mavi Jeans has plenty to choose from. And from the looks of this campaign, they are guaranteeing good style and some serious fun.

Los Angeles denim brand House of Cassette‘s Peter James Lee talks candidly about what influences his brand strategy and what makes his jeans so special. Note that the language might be NSFW, so dial down your audio. Lee provides a bit of denim history and reveals how his jeans references vintage Levi’s construction with the use of interior chainstitching on the yoke and waistband. Also referencing Cassette’s use of vintage machinery and their “analog” design ethos, you get the idea that their jeans are individually crafted with a lot more care than mass-produced jeans. This is part 2 of Episode 1, entitled “Cut & Show.”

Odyn Vovk reveals his 2012 Spring/Summer Collection in a short fashion film. The denim vest, jean jacket, and jeans function as staple pieces for the man featured in the film, yet still manage to be unique due to distinctive collars, buttons, and light washes. The man in the film is going somewhere, and though he may not know where, he’s got the durable clothing to stick with him for the long run. You may not be going soul searching anytime soon, but these denim favorites are great pieces to have no matter where you’re headed.

Harieth Paul channels true 1970?s cool in this fashion editorial for the July 2011 pages of Elle Canada. Shot by Richard Bernardin the Tanzanian beauty is definitely giving us a classic foxy vibe in bold floral print separates, and some of the summer seasons hottest denim looks. We’re pretty much in love with the amazing shredded denim overalls but we have to admit our favorite look is definitely the Stella McCartney oversized denim tunic styled with those killer lace -up thigh-high boots. Hands down our favorite take on the 70s trend to date!

We’d never thought we’d see the day when two of our favorite past times (happy hour and denim of course!) join forces to coexist as one. But the day has come, and to say the least, we’re quite ecstatic about the “injeanious” collaboration. Reason why? Denim Lounge located in the heart of New York City’s diverse Brooklyn neighborhood Bedford-Stuyvesant, is home to a jazzy live band, $2 tuesdays ($2 drinks specials, defintelty love at first sight) and weekly events that allow local talent to show case their work. But don’t let the down to earth vibe fool you, the decor in this lounge is one to be reckoned with. The glistening black bar, red scalloped banquettes, and scented candles will leave you feeling swanky as if you just stepped into the Gansevoort Hotel. But being the denim lovers that we are, we take great appreciation to the quirky mural of a topless chick wearing a pasted-on pair of jeans and the muted prince videos that play on a projectile screen. Denim lounge has definitely lived up to its name and we’re not complaining one bit. Cheers!

Acne‘s Jonny Johansson is always thinking outside of the box, even when he puts his models in it. The video below takes you behind the scenes at Acne’s Womenswear Resort 2012 fashion show, featuring a giant black frame which looks a bit like an enormous iPad screen (yes, our view is now distorted by iDevices). Models stream through this giant box which serves as the focal point of the fashion show. A minimalist setting complete with pastel blue runways, Acne’s Womenswear Resort 2012 fashion show featured some yummy Otterpop pastels and popcicle orange and yellow against its requisite neutrals. With shredded denim shorts, figure-hugging skirts and even a jeans jacket in the mix, styled with tousled and teased-hair models, everything looks very über chic Stockholm street style.
Acne Studios continues to churn out interesting collections with the goal of not following what’s going on in the rest of Europe. Acne Creative Director Jonny Johannsson provides some insight into this collection. If you watch carefully, Johansson is interviewed during the hectic fashion show set-up. Were they trying to show off his set, or did he simply get in the way? At any rate, they put Jonny in a box, which is so unlike his goals at Acne.
