Flare Jeans, Street Style

One of the leading denim trends right now is the ’70s style flare leg jeans, but is anybody really wearing it off the pages of a magazine?  Who What Wear has documented a few stylish ladies from the Stockholm streets to New York City.  Note from WWW: do not go all-out and take the ’70s vibe literally.  You can look elegant and on-trend by pairing your fluid wide leg jeans with a structured blazer or a body skimming top to off-set the looseness of the jean.

To read about suggested wide leg jeans (including the high-waisted variety!) and what else to wear with your flared jeans, go to Who What Wear online.

RARE Spring 2011 Lookbook

With a constant inundation of big & bad brands hitting us face first via inbox/RSS feed every day, we can’t like everything. But it’s true that even lines of questionable cool-caliber have something to offer. Some hidden gem. For Italian brand Rare, it’s the denim overalls in their Spring 2011 lookbook. They’re well-proportioned, perfectly creased, grunge-inspired, and ready to rock. The rest of the lookbook feels like it’s chocked with too many overlapping design details and (gulp…faux-necklace floral detail over a denim workshirt), but for this awesome one-piece release, we’ll  forgive them this season.

Gridlock Denim: Pick Their Pockets

Remember when we wrote about Designer Jeans with embroidered pockets?  What if we could change the look of our jeans without having to buy a whole new pair?  Gridlock Denim founded their jeans on the idea of interchangeable back pocket overlays that can be swapped out when the mood strikes.  With just a one-two zip et voil?: instant denim therapy!  Feeling a little Boho chic?  Want to get rough and military?  Or, you just want to un-bling your jeans?  Yes, Gridlock’s got a pocket for that.  The jeans are sourced from high quality denim from ORTA, a Turkish manufacturer, and cut, sewn and made in Los Angeles.

The jeans in this collection consists of the “Railroad,”  “I-Core,” “I-Core Vintage,” “Marina,” “Raw Wash” and a “Men’s Railroad” style, with most jeans featuring discreet whiskering and other comprehensive finishing techniques.

The jeans retail for $120-$250 each, and additional pocket overlays are $18-$40 per pair.  To view more images and purchase the jeans, go to Gridlock Denim online.

Denim Looks From Mike Gonzalez Spring 2011

We couldn’t be more thrilled to present three incredible denim-infused looks from the Mike Gonzalez spring 2011 collection (which is, in short, a bohemian dream). The line is characteristic in its well-played head wraps, organic bangles, cut-outs, and ethnic prints, but the star of this show is all-blue, baby! We’re beyond obsessed with this round up of braid-rope belted denim jumper, versatile cropped drawstring pants, and stylized denim jacket. This is one example of boho-denim that needn’t even graze the surface of western. If you thought the West was wild, scroll down and think again.

Mike Gonzalez is available at Pink Mascara, Revolve Clothing, Shopbop, Tobi and more… for a complete list of retailers, visit the the official site.

Stripes & White Cut-Offs: An Easy Summer Outfit

Australian designer/blogger Jody Phan from Don’t Dance Naked shows off her easy-to-execute summer outfit: a pair of ultra-light wash denim cut-off shorts and a cropped top in black and white thick stripes. Her accessories include a bangin’ gold watch, red baseball cap, and clean white sneakers. We love her cool-casual approach to street wear, and you can rock it too! Show less skin by layering a one piece leotard beneath the top, or add a roomy knit cardigan. Add modesty to the shorts by layering a pair of lace biker shorts, or rock the whole thing as is (as soon as the weather warms up)!

DT favorite Sasha Pivovarova flaunts bohemia spring trends in the newest installment of Free People‘s catalog. A brand known for infusing feathers, tiered skirts, and florals in their looks, this Russian super model pulls their off without a hitch, and is awarded some camera time with a white baby tiger (see last photo—we know there’s no denim, but we couldn’t leave it out). Items that caught our attention were these incredible flare-leg grungetastic jeans and a pair of cargo cut-off shorts.
