With a constant inundation of big & bad brands hitting us face first via inbox/RSS feed every day, we can’t like everything. But it’s true that even lines of questionable cool-caliber have something to offer. Some hidden gem. For Italian brand Rare, it’s the denim overalls in their Spring 2011 lookbook. They’re well-proportioned, perfectly creased, grunge-inspired, and ready to rock. The rest of the lookbook feels like it’s chocked with too many overlapping design details and (gulp…faux-necklace floral detail over a denim workshirt), but for this awesome one-piece release, we’ll forgive them this season.

Denim Therapy: Lets start from the beginning. What inspired you to get this Website off the ground? How exactly does it work?
Lauren Santo Domingo: The website has been a long time coming. We have been working on it for over a year and a half and launched during New York fashion week. My business partner and I had long wanted to go into business together but the world did not need another personal style or street style blog. Moda Operandi offers access to designer showrooms and allows members to shop like an editor; A privilege that I am lucky to have had.
DT: Tell us some designers that you carry and about the denim they offer?
LSD: We are gearing up for London fashion week right now… We have a great group of Brits like Erdem, Peter Pilotto, Christopher Kane, Marios Schwab. These collections showed to great reviews and hey are sometimes hard to come by. So our flash trunk shows are quite possibly the only place to secure these looks.
DT: What are some of your favorite denim brands? And where do you shop for them?
LSD: I love Stella McCartney for high waisted and Balenciaga for skinny jeans. Derek Lam did a fabulous high waisted jean for Spring, hat I am lusting after right now.

We couldn’t be more thrilled to present three incredible denim-infused looks from the Mike Gonzalez spring 2011 collection (which is, in short, a bohemian dream). The line is characteristic in its well-played head wraps, organic bangles, cut-outs, and ethnic prints, but the star of this show is all-blue, baby! We’re beyond obsessed with this round up of braid-rope belted denim jumper, versatile cropped drawstring pants, and stylized denim jacket. Australian designer/blogger Jody Phan from Don’t Dance Naked shows off her easy-to-execute summer outfit: a pair of ultra-light wash denim cut-off shorts and a cropped top in black and white thick stripes.
