Christmas may be over, but the celebration doesn’t have to end.  Lots of online retailers are extending sales through New Year’s Day, so there’s no better time to get that belated holiday gift, nab that wish list item that didn’t make it under your tree, or splurge on a little something for yourself — for once!  Madewell is having a fab sale — a denim buffet of sorts — on yummy Madewell jeans, Paige and Earnest Sewn, in a variety of interesting styles that don’t look like leftovers.  Yes, Madewell is carrying a couple of their all-time favorite iconic brands that made it to their own hit list.  And you thought it was only that sweet dish Alexa Chung that they love!

We’re licking our chops just thinking of the Madewell sale!  Hurry: save an additional 30% off on sale items through Tuesday, 12/28/10, 11:59 p.m. ET.  Enter BYEBYE at checkout.

Denim & Metallics for New Year’s Eve Outfits that Shine

As Balmain reminded us repeatedly over the past year, metallics and denim are a match made in heaven. Whether it’s sparkles, studs, or a sleek panel of metallic mesh, this accent can turn a basic denim garment into something extremely festive (or totally badass). This New Year’s Eve, it’s time to toss the frou-frou cocktail dress and let the room know you’re there to party! Check out some of our favorite ways to wear metallic accessories and accents with your denim.

nye2010-denim-metallics-collage0011

1. French fashion blogger extraordinaire Betty of Le Blog de Betty kicks around in some metal-toe boots by OFFICE (?95) – buy them at OFFICE.

2. It makes a lot of sense to turn to the makers of denim classics themselves to turn out compatible accessories to help illuminate your look. A metallic belt is functional, eye-catching, and sure to serve you well into the new year. We love this 1-SNAP-A belt by Diesel ($130) – buy it here.

3. Steal the show in this velvet vest with metallic thread embroidery and mirror detail! The ornate piece goes perfect with a pair of ripped cut-off jean shorts. Nasty Gal had this Marrakesh version for sale and it’s since been sold, but you can DIY, scour vintage shops, or try this gold-embellished nude bolero at $108.

4. New York-based glamour-expert and blogger-gone-style-icon The Glamourai layers with a metallic sequin cardigan over a pair of Hudson jeans. Metallic sequin blouse by Elizabeth and James ($185.50) – buy it at Beso.

5. The luxe golden accent jewelry and accessories at Chanel work perfectly when applied to denim. Pile on the bangles, jewels, and rings while keeping your denim attire simple to make a bold statement. Seen here via the Cherry Blossom Girl. Try these Giles & Brother golden bracelets ($168) from Net-A-Porter, or a Kenneth Jay Lane Double Cross Cuff ($231) from Shop Bop. For party goers on a budget, this beautiful Pelle Filigree Cuff ($20) from Alloy.

6. Taking #3 a bit further, Dries Van Noten SS/11 shows us that layering textured metallics on top and pairing with a pair of jeans creates a look that encompasses the spirit of partying in luxury and the careless vibe of downtown new york city. Image from JAK & JIL BLOG. Try this Diane Von Furstenberg ($545) from Cusp, paired with this VINCE sequin tea in antique gold ($295) from Revolve Clothing. Or try this eye-popping (and exceedingly affordable) Wet Seal variation in red.

With these styling tips and a whole universe full of after-Christmas sales, you’ll be able to rock party-tailored denim on the big night out and turn heads all year long.

Eniko Mihalik is Denim Sex in Antidote’s First Issue

When we heard Antidote Magazine was basing their launch issue on denim, we were pretty stoked. But we definitely didn’t expect such a sexy study of our rugged twill blues. Model Eniko Mihalik rocks everything from the super-relevant basic denim work shirt to a tailored denim dress (though she seems to have a hard time keeping it on). Our favorite look in the shoot is the scoop-neck denim jumpsuit. It looks stellar with her big wavy ’70s hair and killer gaze. A touch of glamour punctuates the editorial with at cameo by well-groomed nails and Chanel perfume, because even a girl in head-t0-toe tough denim can have the aura of a powdered princess.

The Undisputed Temple of Parisian Celebration

The French know how to party (come on, it’s where champagne was first made!), and apparently they also know a thing or two about wearing denim. The Antidote Magazine launch party in Paris this past November gathered a veritable mass of denim-wearing pretty young things to dance, drink, and show off their denim styling skills. The result (for those not fortunate enough to witness the madness first hand) was this video—a minute and forty-three seconds of denim eye candy and below-the-belt camera stalking, spliced with smiling faces and party-goers browsing the pages of Antidote (a massive 358 page hardcover book).

Heat Wave: Calliope Spring 2011 Campaign

The forecast is snow and rain for the post-Christmas holiday, and our New York staff has already begun burying their faces in spring campaigns in hopes to alleviate the reality of winter elements. The Calliope spring 2011 campaign was one very effective elixir, featuring Russian bombshell Masha Novoselova kicking back in the tall grass and reclining in the driver’s seat of a beachy expedition.  The styling is enough to keep our warm weather wardrobe mojo alive through the cold season—we love the cropped denim vest paired with a flowing sheer layered dress, and flirty denim shorts matched with a striped shirt that screams “Summer fashion, je taime!” …Or wait, maybe that was us screaming.

Snejana Onopka in Denim on Danish Magazine Cover

Have you seen the cover of Cover? ‘Tis the season for denim on the front page! Snejana Onopka‘s cold steel gaze on the front of this Danish fashion mag may not exude the warm-and-fuzzy aura that the toothy-smiles on Elle January 2011 did, but this gorgeous shot by photographer Andreas ?hlund makes a strong aesthetic statement for the new year.

Mister Freedom, Up Close & Well Worn

You don’t get much more Americana than a name like Mister Freedom, and just as expected from this classic-cool brand, their newest style, the Californian, boasts a 1950′s vintage reference that could turn you into a Rockabilly king in about as much time as it takes to pull on a pair of jeans. The cuffs, the patch on the back pocket, the badass cut… A must-have for the new year, gents! They retail for $249.95, which might hurt you wallet a little, but if you bypass those superfluous post-Xmas sales, you can justify it. Check out this delicious detail:
