I don’t know these crazy kids, but, after close to a decade of courtship, don’t you think Harrison Ford, a.k.a. Indiana Jones, should have cleaned himself up a bit more? Nothing against wearing jeans to weddings, but, I hope they were brand new and not the faded and well-loved variety. But, with his recent role in Extraordinary Measures and the latest, Cowboys and Aliens, I suspect he is wearing the basic medium blue issue. Good thing he knows that whatever brand a man chooses to wear, the jeans have to “fit your butt.” — Kathy Ng Hassan
From Sleek Gossip:
When Harrison Ford, 67, tied the knot with longtime girlfriend Calista Flockhart on June 15, the movie star opted to walk down the aisle in a more casual look: Wrangler Jeans. Click here to read more..

Facetasm jeans, Spring Summer 2010.
When I first read the headline, I thought, wow, they must be talking about the tapered jeans or the Carrot fit, right? I was soooo wrong. Is it an optical illusion? Nope. The pant legs are actually a different width. I can see the fasteners working quite well on another pair of paper bag waist or super high waisted jeans. Would you wear it?

From The Fashion Police:
Within the world of fashion, we hear a lot about issues of weight, whether we’re telling people they’re too fat, or telling them they’re too thin. What, though, about those poor people who’re both fat AND thin, at the same time? We don’t all have the luxury of legs that are roughly the same size as each other… Click here to read more.
Why bother going to sleep tonight. If you even want to stand a chance at scoring anything decent in your size, you may as well drag yourself out of bed and head on over now with a liter of coffee (or some other legal stimulant) and stake your place in line. As of this morning, I read there will be some heavenly steals on some Rag & Bone jeans for men and women.

Dang! A 38″ inseamer. You know there’ll be a bunch of much shorter dudes sporting it just because they can, and likely walking around with the pant legs looking like they’re melting into their sneakers.

Bottom left: Railcar Fine Good’s Steven Dang at his design table. Bottom right: a women’s denim prototype.
You may wonder what inspires our favorite denim designers. Would it be a movie star? An oil spill in the gulf? For Steven Dang of Railcar Fine Goods, it might just be a classic motorcycle, a vintage car or even the inner workings of a train. An engineer by trade, Steven Dang got tired of just tinkering with cars on the side. Recently, I had the opportunity to visit Railcar’s design studio in Los Angeles. He pulls up a heavy duty sewing factory-style stool for me to sit in and practically bowled me over when he showed me his ginormous roll of selvedge denim. Of course, I had to touch it.
Amid the scattered patterns and denim prototypes stacked on one of his drafting tables, sat a cup of coffee. Calm and well-spoken, Steven admits he doesn’t get much sleep between his engineer work and Railcar. “Everything we do is by hand.” Steven explains to me that his workwear-inspired shirts don’t just come out of a cookie cutter. From the cut of the sleeves and shirtail, to the shoulder panel and even the flow of the fabric’s design, he is careful to mirror the patterns appropriately. “Visually, it has to make sense.” I did scratch my head at first, wondering why a man who repairs the Metro Gold Line by day (actually, he does that at night), has any interest in fashion design. “I love working with my hands and building things, and I see what I do [with Railcar Fine Goods] as that.” Of course, I had to ask him if he had a fave pair of jeans he couldn’t part with. “I don’t. But I catch myself wearing the prototype of my Spikes fit all the time lately. This will probably be that pair.”
Described as ” Industrial Americana fitted clothes,” Steven sews small productions and sampling from his quaint (and relatively immaculate) home studio and uses select factories in L.A. to take care of details. “I don’t like using mass production factories because small details get lost in the production process; and, I never use overseas manufacturing.” So far, so good. Steven has successfully garnered himself some upscale and niche stockists. As we spoke, American Rag World Denim Bar was signing on to carry Railcar. Look Out for Women’s denim in the fall and next season: Men’s Sonny straight leg jeans.

The denim forecasts are in after the two-day Denim by Premi?re Vision trade fair in Paris that ended on June 3rd. With strong influences from Celine, Seventies Biba and the continuing strength in vintage workwear for men, the popular trend will be all about formalwear. Tailored, structured, and clean lines, heavily influenced by the runways of Celine, will be the style to look out for. Designers are looking more towards trouser and chino style silhouettes. Popular for the ladies will be low-crotch carrot styles and for men vintage workwear.
New fabric blends such as rayon blends with a velvety touch, Tencel, micro modal, Cupro and the push for more stretchy blends for men’s denim are the future for premium denim.
Black denim, mirrored surfaces, denim shirting and draped denim among other key trends. A fluid drop-crotch rayon version of the “jegging,” or denim legging, and the “jeather” a new denim concept by Turkey’s Isko combining a jean form with a leather-like finish.
You want novelty denim? Included in the mix was a warp and weft indigo-dyed jean by Japan’s Kurabo, an “emotional jean” that changes color with heat by Denim Valley from Royo (that could get a little tricky) and an eco-friendly “wine jean” range by South Korea’s Eco Yaa involving denim dipped in wine tannin, grape callus extract and sprout compounds. The properties in wine are supposed to help prevent chafing.
All very exciting!
