Lanvin/Acne 2010 Collection – Better than ever!

My deep love for anything and everything Lanvin grows deeper and deeper with every season.  Alber Elbaz is pure perfection with the keenest eye for what a girl wants in all her frocks, frills, and over all fashion fabulousness!  A match made in heaven, the 2010 collaborative collection is a true testament to the divine synergy of this ongoing love affair. The fiery and playful t??te-? -t??te between Lanvin’s signature silhouettes with Acne’s confections of soft washed denim re-defines what a chic 2010 woman should be.

Dress- LF 202DDress- LF 202D2

Dress: LF 202D, $1,170.00

The ultimate lady that lunches elegant summery sleeveless dress in soft Japanese denim. Drape bow detail at waist with pleats running across bust and waist.

Dress- LF 2031DDress- LF 203D2

Dress: LF 203D, $900.00

This dress has a little more punch to make a grand entrance at a casual power lunch.  A ruched shoulder dress with a beautiful, feminine fit. The ruching sits over the left shoulder, with pleats running across the bust. The right shoulder is sleeveless.

Dress- LF 200DDress- LF 200D2

Dress: LF 200D, $1,380.00

My absolute favorite from this collection, the quintessential sihouette of Lanvin with the one shoulder, ruching and draping.  This summery one shoulder dress is in soft Japanese light weight denim with ruched left shoulder with drapes running across the bust towards a gathered waist. A flower made of raw edged denim fabric adorns the chest.  My perfect cocktail dress!

Skirt- LF 401DSkirt- LF 401D2

Skirt: LF 401D, $930.00

The must have item that will stand up to the test of time is this elegant pencil skirt in fine Japanese denim. Closes at side with a zipper hidden by pleated details. The side detail fabric is attached at the waist with a press button.

Blouse: LF 613D

Feminine western shirt in soft, lightweight Japanese denim. Closes with Acne Lanvin signature press buttons and ribbon detail at the collar.

Skirt- LF 400DSkirt- LF 400D2

Jacket: LF 701D, $2,580.00

Worn with the skirt as a beautiful suit, alone with slacks or with leather jeans for a more rock ‘n’ roll look, this glamorous denim jacket in washed Japanese denim, embellished with silver beads is versatile for day and evening all throughout the year.

Skirt: LF 400D, $840.00

I’m so glad 90’s fashion is making its’ way back in trend, this denim pencil skirt, with pleated back details, made in fine washed Japanese denim is a playful nod to the 90’s and Elbaz’s signature bow.

Denim News: Brooklyn Denim Company Now Open

Brooklyn Denim Co

Oh, those denim bandwagoneers are relentless.  Just try to stop them from starting a new company from the ground up (gee, I wonder who), spinning off new denim labels (yep, heard that one before) or opening new stores!  Don’t you get it?  Denim is here to stay.  You can’t extinguish our love.

— Kathy Ng Hassan

From Racked NY:

When the recession first hit, there was a lot of talk about how the already-volatile Williamsburg retail scene would survive. The owners of Brooklyn Denim Company, a new jeans-and-more shop, took the rare optimistic approach. Rather than hunkering down and waiting for the economy to improve, they decided to open a neighborhood-focused store in Williamsburg promoting the world’s best denim brands, which they figured could use a boost.   Click here to read more.

DIY Denim-Chloe-SS10

I love most things Chloe, but not all things Chloe.  I generally leave an open mind about fashion, but I’m not too crazy about the latest denim looks from Chloe’s Spring/Summer 2010 Collection.  The patchwork denim ensemble — not phrases we like to repeat here at Denim Therapy — seen at left, looks great on the model, err, the model makes the ensemble look great.  Kudos goes to Erica Domesek for her D.I.Y effort.  I am inspired to create my own runway-inspired looks now, if only to rid my mind from the images of hobos drying their laundry on clotheslines by the railroad tracks.

— Kathy Ng Hassan

From WhoWhatWearDaily:

The team??”as well as the fashion community at large??”is invariably obsessed with everything Hannah MacGibbon creates for Chloe. With collections that are sophisticated, cheeky, and tomboyish yet girly, it’s no wonder that this French label is always at the top of our list. This season, we were all about MacGibbon’s deftly designed neutral necessities, but there was one look in particular that had us all aflutter: the vintage-looking patchwork denim shirt and jeans that came sauntering down the S/S 10 runway. Maybe we’re just suffering from a bad case of eighties-redux fatigue, but there was something so refreshingly new, yet sweetly nostalgic, about this fashion-forward Texas Tuxedo denim duo, it was the natural pick for our next Do It Yourself story!

After the runaway success of our first D.I.Y. story, which focused on the divine Proenza Schouler S/S 10 collection, we knew that we had to bring this idea to our partner-in-craft: Erica Domesek of P.S. I Made This! After all, the actual Chloe Patchwork Jeans ($565, 212.717.8220) and Two-Tone Shirt (which will be in stores shortly) are genius, but you can easily approximate the results with just a few simple “ingredients” and a little elbow grease… Click here to read more.

Denim Finds: Target + Liberty of London

When I attended Target’s first pop-up shop initiative in 2008 titled Bullseye Bodegas with featured limited edition fashion collaborations with designers: Anya Hindmarch, Sigerson Morrison, Jonathan Saunders and Converse, I decided, going forward, that I would wait until it hit stores for a calmer shopping experience. It was sheer mayhem!

Well, who would have known that the Target + Liberty of London’s pop-up shop would sell out by their second day forcing them to close up shop that evening.  Oh woe is me, I never had a fighting chance to purchase the lovely Liberty of London bicycle that I so wanted.  The limited offerings are now available on-line and in participating Target stores, but buyer beware, not a whole lot left.  Oh woe is me.

Rag & Bone Video Exclusive: Inside the Line With the Designers + Lily Aldridge

It’s a fun fashion music video, shot in NYC and featuring Rag & Bone designers David Neville, Marcus Wainwright and model Lily Aldridge. Produced by Shopbop, the video has a vintage home movie feel to it. It doesn’t really tell you anything specific about the line, so you’ll have to pause and rewind to get a good look for yourself.

New light Petit Standard jeans and bags at A.P.C.

Just in time for spring! A.P.C. presents new lightweight denim for its wildly popular Petit Standard Jeans.  It is selvedge denim, chainstitched at the waist and hem and made to hug your svelte curves.  You can show off your stylishness on the way to class, while gazing upon some modern art, or while sipping your caf?© noisette — while standing fiercely, of course — at some swanky caf?© du jour.  And, in case people don’t notice that your are sporting the supremely cool and sleek A.P.C. jeans, worn by celebs the world over, including the ethereal Natalie Portman, you can go a bit matchy match with a selection of A.P.C. indigo saturated totebags.  Give your Herm??s bag a rest.  You can break up the blue a bit with your baguette or bouquet of flowers you bagged from the Farmer’s Market.
