I was not excited they chose a pair of raggedy, vintage 80s (not the cool kind) jeans as part of the makeunder clothes. There are plenty of inexpensive — albeit designer — jeans that he could’ve worn that would have been toned down enough to be less metro. A pair of inexpensive, better-fitting Cheap Mondays or even Gap jeans would’ve been fine, no?
I take pride in my reputation as a quintessential metrosexual with an impeccable appearance — custom-fitted suits; polished Italian shoes; coiffed hair; buffed nails; and, most importantly, smooth, clean-shaven, moisturized skin.
Maintaining my appearance-conscious lifestyle is not an easy feat and requires considerable time, money and effort.
My bathroom is filled with a plethora of personal-care products, including (but not limited to): cleansers, moisturizers, lotions, exfoliating scrubs, aluminum-free deodorants, shaving creams, tongue scrapers, whitening strips, shampoos and conditioners. I visit Kiehl’s, Dermalogica and The Art of Shaving more frequently than the grocery store.
My aesthetic-enhancing efforts have not been for naught. When I was a contestant on “I Love New York 2,” Ms. New York honored me with the title “Tailor Made,” paying homage to my collection of tailor-made suits.
All this somehow led to me being challenged to a “man makeunder” (i.e., no “excessive grooming” for 14 days).
I will admit my personal-care regimen is a tad over-the-top, consisting of weekly MANicures (buffed, not polished); biweekly haircuts, pedicures and mini-facials; and monthly chest, eyebrow and underarm waxing.
When my girlfriend and I first started dating, my daily application of a moisturizing aloe vera mask caused her to scream so loud one morning that my neighbor called to see if everything was all right. I even remove the hair from my nostrils using herbal wax on a stick, which is so worth the pain…
Who’s your daddy? Urban Daddy is a great lifestyle website for dudes who want to be in the know about food, fashion, nightlife and everything else inbetween. Today, they featured an article about Denim Design Lab.
Feeling Blue: Blue Jeans Designed by Science
Over the years, some simple pleasures have remained simple.
Jeans. A T-shirt. The monumental achievement that is “Oops! …I Did It Again.”
But for now, let’s focus on the first two.
Welcome to Denim Design Lab, a new site devoted to bringing you great denim and only great denim, online now.
If you’re a jeans-and-T-shirt type, this is your store. Because that’s all they sell: jeans. And T-shirts. Which means that pulling off an iconic, movie-star-worthy look??”one that makes you look like Newman in Hud, Brando in The Wild One or Swayze in Road House??”is back to being as simple as it was meant to be.
On the site, you’ll have a handful of designy T-shirts and about 30 pairs of jeans laid out before you??”all of which more or less fit like old 501s. All of them have classic details (button flies, old-school rivets) and are designed to withstand a good beating??”whether it comes from a little old-school prospecting for gold or just some spilled Bordeaux.
And since such decisions shouldn’t be made without expert precision and timing, you should know that these guys have literally written the book about denim??”their Denim Encyclopedia is a massively influential document that will be studied for generations by jeans historians.
It’s a growing field. (Source: Urban Daddy)

Bayswater Denim Washed Bag, $995.00
I had included this bag in my denim finds “Spring into Denim” blog post, but I thought this deserved to be featured on its’ own since it is such a gorgeous denim bag done extremely well. The classic Bayswater Bag is transformed into a modern girls chic must-have bag in a quilted light washed denim, topped off with smooth saddle leather for a retro look. The roomy Bayswater fits over the shoulder or can be carried in the crook of the arm for a more lady-like fashion. With denim being such a hot trend for spring, this bag will be a true staple of denim lovers alike.
Some Mulberry background:
Mulberry was established in 1971 in Somerset, England on the shelves of the London fashion emporium, Biba. Two timeless and iconic Mulberry bags started a huge following, the classic Bayswater and the Roxanne, which only seem to gain in popularity as the seasons go by. Over the years, Mulberry has added shoes and belts, but remain an English fashion darling to the chic and stylish all over the world.
Timeless, classic and stellar craftmanship.

Resurgence of `fashion’ denim: Styles for today, tomorrow and to wear together
Denim never goes out of style, but there are seasons when your old, reliable five-pocket jeans simply aren’t enough. This is one of those seasons.
The jeans legging ??” aka jegging ??” is still going strong, and denim designers are also talking up the chambray shirt, asymmetrical motocross jackets, cutoff shorts and, still, the boyfriend pant. There are trouser styles and waistcoats for work, and, “rip-and-repair” jeans are a must for weekends.
Ralph Lauren had overalls on the runway and showed jeans under an evening gown. Even babies are getting premium denim.
And a denim-on-denim outfit, sometimes considered a fashion faux-pas in the past, is a bona fide trend.
“The American denim look is everywhere ??” it’s in the air, it’s all over the world,” says Patrick Robinson, creative director at Gap. “The workwear feel is hot, especially for guys, and there’s a sexy look for women. … It’s about cool Americans and how they live and we’re trying to export that around the world.”
Denim is proving a strong springtime seller in stores, says Stephanie Solomon, vice president of fashion direction at Bloomingdale’s. She is particularly fond of the shorts and leggings paired with striped T-shirts.
“It probably has never had a larger impact on what we wear every day,” agrees Durand Guion, men’s fashion director for Macy’s. “We had gotten just about as casual as we can get without getting in our pajamas, so we’re looking to incorporate denim into our lives at least five days a week, but not just Saturdays. We’re looking to step it up. You can wear a button-down denim shirt with a tie.”
Helmut Lang co-creative director Nicole Colovos thinks people like that they can put their own spin on denim. And no pair of jeans looks the same on two different people.
“It’s so individual, from how you wear it in, how you style it. The fit is molded to your shape,” Colovos says. “You don’t want someone else wearing your jeans.”

Junya Watanabe’s MAN collection has some amazing pieces for this season. In addition, he has a gorgeous jean out from his brilliant ongoing collaboration with Levi’s called the Printed Jean available now at TR??S BIEN SHOP.
Let’s be honest, so many designers have done collaborations with Levi’s, but in my opinion, Watanabe outshines the rest. If you are willing to drop a cool $762 for a pair of jeans, I would go for these over the “inspired by” replica of Levi’s vintage 501’s that Evisu is coming out with.
Junya Watanabe X Levi’s – Printed Jeans, $762.00
Printed denim jeans from Junya Watanabe x Levi’s. These lightweight thin denim jeans have a low rise, drop crotch, and relaxed fit. The back of the pants is a standard pair of Levi’s 501 but the front is made from a super soft, thin cotton fabric printed on the front with the trompe d’oeil image of a pair of distressed jeans. The entire pants is lined with a striped oxford cotton that shows when you roll up. They feature contrast white stitching, belt loops, streamlined five pockets, and a zip fly. Comes in Small, Medium and Large. Made in Japan.
Junya Watanabe MAN – Gingham Checked Shirt, $452.00
Straight fitted shirt from Junya Watanabe in an amazingly soft gingham checked cotton. White contrast collar and cuffs and rounded hem. The buttons are slightly larger than a standard button for a more special look. Made in Japan.
Junya Watanabe X Tricker’s – Semi Brogue, $650.00 (picture with the Printed Jeans)
This is not the first time Watanabe San teams up with UK shoe masters Tricker’s but that does not matter at all. The collaboration keeps getting better and better for every season. Here’s a super chunky half brogue in soft calf leather and red leather lining. Goodyear commando sole and metal eyelets. Very limited numbers on this one. Delivers with dust bag and a can of Tricker’s shoe polish.
Junya Watanabe MAN – Waistcoat, $791.00
Looks like denim but is actually made in all wool. Tight fit and pockets on the outside. Flip it around and wear it with the red and white gingham on the outside. Made in Japan.
