I often find myself “window shopping” online, clicking on clothes and accessories that catch my eyes, only to find out I’m choosing the most expensive item on the list. Why? Is it perhaps high-style often coincides high prices? Or, is it because I have expensive tastes? When I read the article below and played the picture guessing game, I was surprised at my guesses, and not, in some cases. Which shopper are you? Will you choose the more expensive pair of jeans, or the more stylish one, regardless of the price?

Art, fashion, music…all intertwined to make life beautiful, interesting and worth living! I thought it would be meaningful to occasionally include news on related topics on our blog site. After all, Denim Therapy is all about the craft of denim, which is in essence a true art form. Oh, and not to leave out the fact that I love Fendi, particularly their apparel and shoes!

PARIS ??” How does a luxury goods brand convey craftsmanship in a vivid and compelling way?
Fendi is taking a very hands-on approach this week by enlisting 13 industrial designers to live, breathe and sleep design during ???Craft Punk,??? an event that kicks off Wednesday during the Salone del Mobile in Milan.
The designers, who hail from as far away as Japan, South Korea and Slovakia, will take up temporary residence in the space where Fendi stages its fashion shows, and have been given carte blanche to create design objects using discarded materials from the Italian brand??™s handbag factory in Florence. Also at their disposal will be 10 Fendi artisans who are bringing their sample-making prowess, having spent years transforming the sketches of Silvia Venturini-Fendi into three-dimensional objects by draping, forming, stitching, stretching and finessing fine leathers.
???Craftsmanship is a word that has been terribly abused the last 10 years, just as the word luxury has,??? said Fendi chief executive officer Michael Burke, who revealed the creation of the Fendi Foundation for Design, with ???Craft Punk??? being its first volley.
Rather than creating a permanent museum to display objects, the foundation aims to support young industrial designers in more dynamic ways by giving them a platform for international exposure through high-profile initiatives.
???It??™s not about accumulation,??? Burke said. ???It??™s about the making of: understanding what goes into the product, the craftsmanship.??¦People are ready to hear the story.???

Ladies, if you’ve been waiting for Chip & Pepper’s Stella Bootcut or Hudson Jeans’ Sarah Wide Leg to go on sale, then you’re in luck. Men, if you want to score your own high-end jeans, such as Stitchs or Taverniti, then look to Denim Rack. Get some pricey jeans at up to 40% off. With free domestic shipping on orders over $100 (or $5.00 flat rate for orders under $100), you can’t really complain. But hurry! The sale won’t last and neither will their discounted shipping deal.

San Franciscans have experienced the special fashion deals offered by Thread Lounge, and now, Chicagoans can, too. Thread Lounge Chicago’s Grand Opening party took place last Saturday (and I so wanted to be there), kicking off a midwestern expansion of this quietly growing discount fashion source. Founded by Colleen Schmidt (founder of PJs 2 Go), Thread Lounge started as a travelling sample sale of coveted high-end fashion labels “at a quarter of the retail price.” With pop-up stores scattered across the country and its roots firmly planted in its first permanent location in San Francisco — and now its second permanent location in Chicago — we can only hope they will continue to thrive and set up shop in more fashionista-populated cities.
What labels can you expect to find? Speaking of labels that produce denim, you can expect to find Colcci, James Jeans, Joe’s Jeans, and over 300 others. Other featured designers all under one roof are Alice & Olivia, C&C, Casch Copenhagen, Dolce & Gabanna Men, Milly, Oliver People’s Sunglasses, Stewart+Brown and Vivienne Westwood. It’s a one-stop fashion upgrade haven.
I could only wish to visit San Francisco or Chicago soon just to check out Thread Lounge. Hear that people? I’m jealous there isn’t a permanent Thread Lounge in L.A.!
Happy shopping!

Ha! Here in L.A., I’ve already seen girls wearing the denim cut-offs over the black stockings; albeit, the girl (pictured below) has the legs to make it work very well for her. Wasn’t this a 2007 trend? Funny how some things keep coming back, whether we like it or not. I’m not sure I would wear this look, but never say never!
From Refinery29:
It was picture-perfect weather in NYC this weekend as just about the entire local community found new excuses to be outside. And why not? With steady bitter downpours and a perma-gray sky, the weekend’s cotton candy clouds were almost a shock to the system. We’d say New Yorkers are handling the change pretty well, though. Cropped pants, mini-skirts, and ripped denim strolled, picnic’d, and cycled through every park or patch of grass the city has to offer. So, even if you notice more outfits than flowers blooming, it’s still a sign spring has definitely arrived.

Seven For All Mankind may have launched bags in 2007, but the denim firm is keeping its accessories assortment fresh with new introductions such as footwear for fall and witty Love Notes and Break Up totes (nylon shoppers that feature a compilation of love ??” and hate ??” letters written by the Seven staff).WWD sat down with Rosella Giuliani, vice president of design and merchandising to talk handbags, shoes, writing styles and, of course, denim.
WWD: What made you decide to create the Love Notes and Break Up totes?
Rosella Giuliani: We wanted to develop a fun tote item that was different and unique. One of our graphic designers was doodling a note during a team meeting one day, and he had the idea to compile all different types of love and break-up notes from our internal team, put them together and make a print for the tote.
WWD: Were there any funny moments during the design process?
R.G.: We literally had to do a handwriting test on scraps of paper to see the different styles of everyone??™s penmanship. It wasn??™t until we saw the distinct difference between the
male writing style and female writing style within the department that we decided to come up with two different prints ??” a love note print and a break-up letter. The guys contributed to the strong, aggressive and somewhat hateful words of the break-up letter, and the girls wrote most of the whimsical, dreamy, loving notes on the Love Note tote.
WWD: How would you describe the Seven For All Mankind customer?
R.G.: Our customer is a highly cultivated consumer who appreciates and enjoys fashion. Denim is the foundation of her wardrobe. She wears it during the day, to work and out at night. She appreciates quality and design and always wants to look good.

Today (Sunday) is the last day to take advantage of Diesel’s Black Friday sale. Save 30% off on almost everything. Word on the street is that the discount may not apply to jeans, but check your local store, as that may vary from store to store. The sale actually began on Friday, April 17, at many stores across the U.S. and abroad, but you can also score some deals on everything Diesel online, if you can’t get to the brick and mortar store today. You’ll have to print out a Diesel Bank Note if you plan on getting the Black Friday deal at your local store or online (check online for participating stores).
I also found a special email flyer that says you can save 35% in store for “Cult Members Only.” Give it a shot as well. Click here to access the 35% flyer. (Source)

So many jeans on sale, so little time, right? I haven’t seen a huge sale at Revolve Clothing in a while, but this seems pretty good. Check out the Diesel sale, because you’ll also find deals on their cute warm-weather tops to complete your entire look.
