I never really paid attention to what casual clothes the X-Men superheroes wore in the movies, until I noticed a screen shot of Wolverine running around in a wifebeater tank top and bell bottom jeans. The jeans were tight around the thigh, and flared out below the knees. I sort of thought that Wolverine was dressed that way, based on the era the scene took place. I wasn’t sure if I was crazy about that look, but Wolverine does look good in loose fitting jeans, as pictured above. He still looks tough, macho and rebellious without being a fashion victim. Would men around the world start paying better attention to Hugh Jackman’s fashion choices, now that he’s the Sexiest Man Alive? Will young dudes start dressing like Wolverine, complete with the motorcycle jacket and large belt buckle? Only time will tell.
By the way, X-Men Origins: Wolverine is slated to excite comic book and sci-fi fans alike in theaters on May 1, 2009.

I am proud to say that my wacky rendition of a holiday gift guide garnered a winning spot in Hayden-Harnett‘s 2008 holiday gift guide contest. There were five winners. I was in a wacky mood, so that was my inspiration. It was a chance to promote our beloved Denim Therapy, and the feeling is sweet! I am also flattered, as there were pages and pages of fabulous submissions in Polyvore. Maybe it was my twisted version of the “Piltdown Man,” with the Hayden-Harnett owl coin purse charm “face”; the Ladur?©e style macaroons and Leonidas Belgian chocolates floating on their cloud luggage tags, that did the trick. I was craving sweets (when am I not?). Note the Citizens of humanity Riley Boyfriend Jeans. Delish!

Designer Collabs: Loomstate for Target First Look

Late last month, it was announced that Rogan Gregory??”who had a successful turn collabing with Target with his higher-end eco-line, Rogan??”would be working again with the mass retailer, this time with his other eco-label, Loomstate, which he co-founded with Scott Hahn. To WWD,
Hahn describes Rogan as the more "arty and conceptual and avant garde"
of the two collections, and Loomstate as "geared toward function."
The men's and women's Loomstate for Target line will land in-store and online April 19 (in the proximity of Earth Day April 22) and will range from $14.99-$44.99.
The collection will include "graphic Ts such as a pelican print named
Persey and bikini boardshorts with the Persey design." Along with linen
and silk blends, Hahn told the trade regarding fabrication: "???We did a drunken yarn dye with a little curved wabi-sabi feeling that??™s totally unique…It??™s not ho-hum organic cotton. It??™s engineered fabrics, which makes it all the more interesting.???
WWD queried whether, like Rogan for Target, Loomstate for
Target would also be rolled out first at Barneys New York. A
spokesperson replied: ???In true Target fashion, we??™re always looking for
ways to evolve our strategies and evolve our designer model.???
Cone Denim Cuts Operations At White Oak Plant
Greensboro, N.C.-based Cone Denim, a division of International Textile Group Inc. (ITG), has
announced it will shut down the yarn operation and reduce some weave capacity at its White Oak
Plant. The action, which is expected to be completed by the beginning of December, will impact some
150 employees.
???Our operation at White Oak remains the primary platform for servicing and growing the
premium jeans market in the US and Europe,??? said Delores Sides, director, corporate communications
and human resources, ITG. ???The premium segment has also been impacted by the slowing economy, and
we are making changes at the plant to better align our operations with current demand and global
cost pressures.???
Sides said going forward, the plant will purchase yarn externally for its weaving operation.
