How do $50 Kasil jeans sound to you? Well, hurry up and get ‘em at Secret Style, the new online “member’s only” shopping club. The prices are great, even though you weigh it against their $9.95 shipping fee. Hey, that’s still Kasil jeans for under $60. In my book, these prices will keep me in the black (and oh so stylish) during these economically challenging times. You’ll find men’s and women’s slim and looser-cut jeans. Hurry! Only a couple of days left in the sale!

From Rock & Republic:
Beyonce? rocked the red carpet wearing a Rock & Republic gown at Gotham
Magazine's Annual Gala in celebration of her cover at Escape on November 18,
2008 in New York City.
The woman of all trades wore the Rock & Republic black ???Raven??? dress.
Do you think Beyonce? sizzled or fizzled in this dress?
Definitely feeling the retail therapy love here in SoCal. William Rast and People’s Liberation are joining forces at this weekend’s warehouse sale in Los Angeles. This Orange County Citizens of Humanity sample sale sounds larger than the one I attended over a week ago in Los Angeles. And, they have actual communal dressing rooms to boot. Such a relief to not change in front of male staffers who watch you change while taking a bite out of their sandwich during lunch time.

Beginning Monday: we West Coasties are getting some retail therapy love from the denim folks. I’m so excited that J Brand decided to open their temporary factory outlet to the public! Seriously, I have a couple of Pencil and Love Storys that I’ve had my eye on. Head on over to downtown for some denim eye candy. Unlike certain other sales (to remain nameless), J Brand offers dressing rooms and free parking. Expect to find most skinny styles, bell bottoms, zipper leg, and a few boutique styles. They have jeans for men, women and children. Sweet!

In an effort to maintain my sometimes expensive hobby of shopping for premium denim, I decided to search high and low for some good deals on good jeans. Times are tough! I certainly did not want to go downtown and look for counterfeit jeans. No! I never thought I would actually find a denim company that specializes in a good pair of standard premium denim that costs less than $50 — until now. How do $40 premium denim sound to you? If you haven’t heard of Alias Premium Denim, then let me introduce you to your new best denim friend. Alias Premium Denim have produced jeans that are “superior in design, fit and fabric, as well as superior in value.” Based in New York, this company keeps their costs low by using overseas manufacturers. Don’t boo and hiss. It’s $40 jeans. Founder Karyn Scholack wanted to create jeans “for all the other girls out there that want to look HOT without burning a hole in their jean pocket.” In these money-tight times, inexpensive jeans are a welcome respite from $200 jeans.
Alias Premium Denim is still very underground. They have been spotted at targeted trunk shows at a few college campuses across the country. Although it seems they used to sell a couple of styles, Alias is now focusing on their standard, best-selling Sweet Dee jean. It’s a basic bootcut jean in a dark rinse, featuring whiskers and sanding. Back pockets are embroidered in their dark squiggle. And, with 10 oz. denim, the jeans are sturdy enough for the winter months, but soft enough to kick up your heels. You really can’t go wrong with these $40 jeans. Oh Karyn, I hope you decide to produce skinny jeans, too. I would so be your denim slave!
After spending an entire day breaking in my pair of Sweet Dees, I can assure you they are worth it. The denim is soft and cut generously. Alias Denim currently only offers just a few even sizes. [A word of caution: if you're in between sizes, you're out of luck.] I also love the fact that the yoke (back waist area) is cut higher, so I don’t feel exposed when I sit down or bend over. I felt like I was wearing expensive jeans, but they weren’t. I honestly could not tell the difference, that’s how much I like ‘em.

Save up to 60% this weekend at the Citizens of Humanity Holiday Warehouse Sale. It’s a great place to shop for your loved ones ahead of time — for once! Oh yes, it’s also a great excuse to scout out denim and knits for yourself, of course. I just wonder what they mean about “no trying on goods?” Also, leave your strollers in the car. They’ve got a lot of restrictions. Either way, I think I’m definitely going to hit this sale. Anybody care to join me?

New Los Angeles flagship to open at 'Town Tire' on Beverly
Tuesday, November 04, 2008
(NEW YORK)
Earnest Sewn may have just recently opened a Malibu outpost, but
they've already got a new project in the works: in February 2009, a new
6000 square foot Los Angeles Earnest Sewn flagship is slated to open on
Beverly Blvd. and Garner. True to form, the store will have plenty of
character; currently, the site is 'Town Tire,' and the retailer plans
to preserve the institution by keeping the rotating tire sign and the
giant tire sign on top of the building, and replacing the roll-up
garage doors with a glass versions. The New York-based company will be
sending some hometown sweets to the new flagship; a 1200 square foot
Babycakes NYC bakery will be built at the location, and there will be
outdoor patio space, where customers can eat their vegan cupcakes. The
entire space will be designed by Earnest Sewn president and designer,
Scott Morrison, and will include a raised Japanese garden pathway
throughout the store, giant petrified trees supporting the ceiling,
industrial fixtures, and 1900s-era artifacts. And of course, in
addition to the jeans, the concept/lifestyle store will offer Sol
Moscot Spectacles, Case & Son's Knives, Phaidon limited edition
books, and more.
